“The Muslim is the one from (the harm of) whose tongue and hand (other) Muslims are safe, and the believer is the one with whom the people trust their blood and their wealth” (Tirmidhi, Faith, 12). “There are three characteristics of a hypocrite: when he spoke he told a lie, when he made promise he acted treacherously, and when he was trusted he betrayed” (Bukhari, Wills and Testaments, 8; Muslim, Faith, 187). “There are four qualities such that if you were to be given them, you will not be harmed even if the world were to be taken away from you. They are good character, restraint in food, truthful speech, and upholding a trust” (Ibn Hanbal, II, 177).
